Welcome to 2016!
NetSquared is growing quickly. Our global community is helping more nonprofits use technology more effectively than ever and together we can keep the momentum going! I’ve written a roundup of your upcoming events for the NetSquared blog. You can also join the conversation on twitter (hashtag #Net2) or in our Slack group.
ACTION NEEDED ASAP
- Our next NetSquared community call will be in early February. We will discuss what changes need to be made based on the fall’s Organizer Survey. Please fill out the doodle poll and I’ll schedule two calls that will cover most of our community time zones.
- Interested becoming a NetSquared Ambassador? Please apply by this Sunday!
January 2016
We’re half way through January already! NetSquared organizers woke from our holiday hibernation and scheduled 34 events. If you’re into making New Year’s Resolutions why not make it “recruit a co-organizer”. Having a team makes NetSquared more fun!

Still looking for a topic? Consider a “Nonprofit Tech Trends for 2016” event (see Birgit’s slides for inspiration).
February 2016
The major push for February will be our third annual survey of all NetSquared attendees. This survey is important because it helps us identify what our members want and collects stories of our collective impact. You can see the results from last year’s survey here.
I will reach out to each meetup organizer soon to schedule a date to distribute the survey to your members.

Why not focus on online security and privacy during Safer Internet Day. It will be celebrated on Tuesday 9 February 2016, with a theme of ‘Play your part for a better internet!’ TechSoup has some great event ideas and tip sheets in English, French and Spanish.
March 2016
The highlight of March is NTEN’s 16NTC. It is the nonprofit sector’s signature technology event bringing together over 2000 of the best and brightest nonprofit professionals from around the world. Every year more than 20 NetSquared organizers attend, so this is your best chance to meet other group leaders.
Organizer Day at 16NTC
NTEN’s Bethany Lister and me will be hosting the second annual Organizer Day on the Saturday after 16NTC.
Are you going to 16NTC? Can you join us for the Organizer Day? Please RSVP now.
- When: Saturday, March 26. 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
- Where: San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California

Crowdsource your event with a Technology Show and Tell or a Social Media Surgery.
April 2016
Storymakers, TechSoup’s signature campaign, is being held this April and May. You can get involved with our tweet-chat, by hosting a presentation, or even by scheduling a hands-on digital storytelling workshop.
Suggested Topic
Digital Storytelling! Save the date by posting on meetup now and let us know how you want to get involved.
May 2016
Storymakers continues!
Suggested Topic
Digital storytelling is always popular, so you could hold a second Storymakers event. Or if you want to mix it up why not hold a Data and Open Data event. Most cities have an existing data or visualization meetup who might be open to co-hosting with you.
June 2016
